It is 9:03 AM and this week has had its share of ups and down. I am readjusting back into my work schedule and am realizing many things about myself as a person.
Today is the celebration of Easter. For some it is a day of easter eggs and bunnies. For others, it is a day to celebrate the day He died and rose again. And the last group … it is some random holiday that is just another weekend.
Easter brings up a plethora of memories for me. I grew up in the Church and spent most Easters singing praise and worship songs about the sacrifice He made. It was also a family tradition to make sweet pork eggs the Sunday of Easter. My family would gather all of our hard boiled eggs, soak it in soy sauce, and make a traditional sweet belly pork dish flavored with herbs. It takes hours to make. It was always fun to look at the different color stained eggs (some purple or blue from the dye). We always made two pot full to last the entire day (we were a family of thirteen so… you get the jist). Today, I will be swinging by my Mom’s house to help her with this same ritual. A ritual I hope to carry and pass to my own children and future family. A day spent in prayer, with family, and with traditions passed on from generation to generation.
