Hair: Organic Oils, Herbs, Cinnamon and Balding

img_2440Good evening everyone, it has been four months since my last hair care update!  In my previous post I spoke at great lengths about Shea Moisture and my transition to sulfate/paraben free conditioners and shampoos. I do have some new updates that I’ve been excited to share! I’ve wrote, in previous blogs, that I’ve been attending herbal workshops for a couple of months now.  I’ve been applying my bioengineering background and my knowledge around these herbal medicines to my skincare and hair care routines through various extractions and formulas.

I learned about cinnamon a few months ago and didn’t really like the scent or flavor.  It seemed to trigger unpleasant memories for me.  I had a one ounce bag, that I wasn’t going to ingest, and decided to make a hair formula for my fiance (whose struggling with a receding hairline) and myself.  Cinnamon is great for blood flow, via topical stimulation, so I figured it would help with stimulating thickness and hair growth for the both of us.  I made a cinnamon, honey, lemon, and coconut oil blend and applied it to my hair before rinsing it out with a shampoo everyday.  I used approximately one teaspoon per shower and massaged it into my scalp so that it was evenly applied.  I typically let it sit for three to five minutes before washing it out with a shampoo.

My fiance and I did this for two months (before we completely ran out) and had great results.  My hair grew back thicker, developed natural high lights (due to the cinnamon), and I had less fall out.  My fiance’s hair also grew back thicker and he had less follicle fall out.  We both had great results and he has been begging me to restock and make this formula.  I am still continuing my previous hair care but am re-implementing the cinnamon, honey, lemon, coconut oil formula.  I highly recommend using organic, pesticide free, nongmo products if you are considering making this at home.  However, if you can’t afford to purchase nongmo/pesticide-free products, I highly recommend that you test this formula out.  It’s really amazing how wonderfully it worked for both my fiance and myself (we have completely different hair types and genes).
