Holy grail makeup essentials 2017 reviewed

IMG_0325I wanted to share my most used products of 2017.  I’ve been providing updates, throughout the year, so some of the items may feel or sound repetitive. I am therefore linking previous posts around skincare, reviews, and moisturizing routines here.

As you can see I really do not use much for my everyday makeup essentials.  In fact, most days I do not wear foundation but I did include my favorite foundations for this blog post.

I always use and run out of my Eyes Lips Face clear brow gel holder.  It retails for $2.00 at most stores. I run out of the product approximately every two months.  It does not have very much product and I really wish they would just have one bottle of the clear brow gel, opposed to having a duo product.  After I finish filling in my brows I almost always use the brow setting gel to add a natural finishing touch.

I discovered, NYX brow pencil cosmetics, when trying to find cheaper cruelty free brands last year.  It is the closest drug store brand dupe to Anastasia Beverly Hill’s brow pencils.  It is not as creamy but is much more buildable and forgiving.  The price tag also makes this item an essential for me.  When I was bumped down, to part time, I had to make changes in my beauty routines too, which meant slashing costs all around.  As a brow junkie – I discovered this item and fell in love with the price point, it’s cruelty free components, and formula.

I typically use Dusty Girl’s Earth Cream ($20.00) by itself.  It is organic, cruelty free, and vegan.  This foundation does not break me out which is why it is one of my holy grails.  I can wear it for 12+ hours with full coverage, very little oil break through, and zero breaking out.  A small note, this item oxidizes but it is barely noticeable.

Bareminerals’ loose foundation ($29.00) powder has been a staple in my makeup routine for approximately two years now.  I love how light it feels and it’s light to medium coverage. I’ve been thoroughly impressed with how they’ve diversified their collection (shade, skin type, etc) the past three years . It’s not the best product for controlling oily t-zones but I like that it gives a natural look.  When paired with a strong primer – there shouldn’t be too much of an issue.  I find that with all foundations, that I’ve owned and tried, I still have to blot every few hours anyways.

Shea Moisture’s grapeseed lotion is what I wear alone when I do not wear foundation.  I typically let my skin breathe 3-4 days a week.  It’s really important that I minimize pore clogging.  At the same time, I want my skin to feel hydrated with great products.  This was definitely one of the best finds I had in 2017 for my daily skincare routine.  It lasts forever and a little bit goes a REALLY REALLY long way.

The best part about these products?  They are all cruelty free products that are paraben free.  Treat yourself out ! These items in total cost less then $100.00;

Many Blessings,
