The validity of storytelling

I heard through the grape vines that third parties were inquiring personal and sensitive information about someone I cared about.  It was a bit shocking because I did not realize individuals, whom I do not hold a close relationship with, cared so much.

I love to write, paint, travel, and share my personal experiences around trauma and self care.  Stories that I write, as a means of a creative outlet, are usually tagged with ‘storytelling.’ Thus reflecting real and raw emotions but not necessarily reflecting true fact and/or details.

Storytelling is a method of affirmation and empowerment that can be theatrical and exacerbated to show real social emotions.  For me… storytelling is the writing outlet I use, particularly around grief and pain.  My art typically contains darker undertones … but my writing is quicker to show a translucent veil into the many emotions in my life.

For those wondering how people are doing – I believe you can simply ask a person, “How are you?”  The human interaction, people can provide, delves much deeper then you could possibly imagine.  Our society has become too attached to technology and social outlets -they have forgotten the very interaction of human compassion, honesty, humility and empathy.

Writing is a tool of expression, empowerment, and creativity.  There are truths to every writing piece but it can also contain satire, sarcasm, or fiction.

You once told me
You wanted to find
Yourself in the world –
And I told you to
First apply within,
To discover the world
within you.

You once told me
You wanted to save
The world from all its wars –
And I told you to
First save yourself
From the world,
And all the wars
You put yourself
