Swatch and Review: Kat Von D Shade + Light Eye Contour Palette

I’ve been gone for a little too long but, as always, I was putting more thought into my content.  I do not like giving generic substance so wanted to think about the items I should review next and layout my plans for 2017.

First up, Kat Von D Shade + Light eye contour palette. This palette retails for $48.00 at Sephora.  I highly dislike this palette.  The swatches in here are one swatch.  It doesn’t have a lot of fallout but pigmentation wise it’s a bit too cool for my skin tone. I love that it is all matte but these are not colors I would wear often because of the way it contrasts against my warm skin.  I like the two outter shades on the bottom row but that’s about it.  It does have a chalky look to it that doesn’t fair very well on my skin. I know some people call this their holy grail – but I think it only looks nice on fair-er skin tone. I received this as a gift last Christmas and have hardly used it all (as you can see in this photo).  If you have warm or a deep skin tone shade – opt out for another palette (I love LORAC).

“Whatever your passion is, keep doing it. Don’t waste time chasing after success or comparing yourself to others. Every flower blooms at a different pace. Excel at doing what your passion is and only focus on perfecting it. Eventually people will see what you are great at doing, and if you are truly great, success will come chasing after you.”

Skin Type: Combination Oily // Sensitive: Yes // Acne-prone: Yes

Tone: Olive/Tan/NC42 or NC40 (MAC)/Stromboli (NARS)

Disclaimer:  For the most part, I’ve switched my diet, hair products, and body cleansers to organic chemical-free products.  I still haven’t moved my cosmetics over to that yet but I think that will be my 2017 goal.  I have oily skin – so finding a primer without silicon is virtually impossible.  I am trying to be more aware of animal-free testing products.
