I went a bit crazy the other day at Sephora. Blogging will do that to you. I’ve been on the lookout for cosmetics again. In 2014 I made it a personal goal to not purchase makeup unless it was completely used up. That ended my compulsive cosmetic shopping overnight – but now that it is 2016 … I am back up and running!
Before posting this – I wanted to test it out for a week so I could give a rating.
Benefit: Gimme Brow Fiber Gel ($24.00)
This is an all time favorite product of mine. I was merely restocking. 🙂 If you have sparse brows – this is a must. (5 of 5 stars)
Tarte: Clay Pot Amazonian Clay Waterproof Liner ($21.00)
I initially bought this product to use as a base/primer for my brown eyeshadows – but this product is absolutely phenomenal. I have very oily lids – and I usually have to use a cream shadow for eyeshadow lasting power. However, this product truly worked more like an eyeliner. My eyelids are still oily enough that I notice it beginning to smear 4-5 hours later – however I am pleasantly surprised that a gel based eyeliner stayed on my lids for such a long period of time without a primer. I’ve tried Bobbi Brown, Coastal Scents, and MAC’s gel eye liner and they honestly do not come close to Tarte’s Amazonian Clay Waterproof Liner. I’m still trying to find tricks on how to keep the liner on longer … but until I do – I’ll continue to rave that this is the longest lasting gel liner on me yet. I can’t imagine how phenomenal this product is on normal/dry skin types. (3.5 of 5 stars)
Kat Von D: Tattoo Liner ($20.00)
Still not quite sure how I feel about this product… I can’t tell if it’s working well for me or not. (2 of 5 stars)
NARS: All Day Luminous Foundation ($48.00)
I read great reviews on this product. I mostly looked into this product to test its staying power, lightweight feeling, reaction to sensitive skin, and staying ability for oily skin. For me, personally, price tags do not matter if the quality of the product justifies it. I am the shade “Stromboli” for this foundation. I thought I was a deeper skin tone so found myself pleasantly surprised that I was this light during the tanner summer seasons. So far my skin has not reacted to the product. I have gone 10+ hours with this foundation and its coverage remained intact all day. The foundation was not cakey and definitely looked natural and did not make me look oily throughout the day. (4.5 of 5 stars)
Skin Type: Combination Oily
Tone: Olive/Tan/NC42 or NC40 (MAC)/Stromboli (NARS)
Disclaimer: For the most part, I’ve switched my diet, hair products, and body cleansers to organic chemical-free products. I still haven’t moved my cosmetics over to that yet but I think that will be my 2017 goal. I have oily skin – so finding a primer without silicon is virtually impossible. I am trying to be more aware of animal-free testing products.
