Tang’s moisturizing routine: organic and holistic

fontcandy

I have combination-oily, sensitive, acne prone skin.  Aside from my regular skin cleansing routine – my moisturizing routine has to be on point throughout the year.  I have an oily t – zone and sensitive/dry skin around my lips and nose.  In the past I’ve tried: Neutrogena, Cetaphil, Clinique, Shiseido, benzamyacin (topical) and LUSH moisturizers.  None of these products worked because they were either too oily, strong, or did not moisturize my skin enough.  (The Lush products were heavily scented and often did not work well on the more sensitive parts of my face however I do love their lemon soap bars).

What works then?!

I’ve been playing with this combination for over 6 months and it seems to be the one that works best for me.  I use the ‘Head to Toe Balm’ moisturizer for the area around my nose and t-zone.  I’ve found that this product does not break me out at all and keeps my skin moisturized all day without clogging my pores.  I like that it has a light scent, moisturizes without leaving a residue, and does not break me out at all.  Not only that – but a little definitely goes a long way with this product. This item is definitely a gem and must have for me now.  I can not and do not go a day without it. I’ve yet to try it during dryer seasons – but I can’t imagine it failing me.

Coconut oil seems to work on and underneath the corners of my mouth. This part of my skin has been a problem area for over 10 years but coconut oil seems to be the solution.  Previous products in the past were extremely harsh on that area and did not keep it moist – so this part of my skin has years of scarring and discoloration.  I notice coconut oil has rejuvenated that section of my face – although I do still feel the color discoloration is permanent.   I also like to use coconut oil underneath my eyes in the evenings once a week to keep the sensitive skin underneath the eyes healthy and fresh-looking.  I use organic virgin coconut oil from Trader Joe’s – and let my fingers warm it up before massaging it into my skin.  Coconut oil is the main item I use on my legs especially during the winter.  I also use coconut oil on my heels to keep callouses at bay.

I think the reason why these products have worked is: it does not contain harsh chemicals.  My skin takes to it in a much better way.

Although – I do have one caution. I notice that when I use coconut oil on my lower back or upper lip – it breaks me out heavily.  So as long as you avoid those areas you should be fine. J
